7 months to the day of Emma's passing, I found out Alex, my beautiful older cat had a uti. he was basically too weak to fight it, so I ended up putting him to sleep on august 20th, 2013. he was peeing blood everywhere in the house and not eating. I brought him to the vet as soon as became really bad. I couldn't stand to see him like that anymore. the vet said it was very treatable, so I just got some antibiotics for Alex. he was still not eating his last night with me and even in the morning, and he did not want to take the pills. he cried in a way that felt like a knife in my gut. I KNEW it was time to let him go. I asked the vet NOT to use the tranquilizer they used on Emma, by the way I did not go to that same vet, and will never again. he went within 15 seconds...very peaceful. I brought him to the mspca to get privately cremated. I love you my mr. buttons always and forever...love mommy.

Ten years in the making, ONE LUCKY ELEPHANT follows the poignant journey of circus producer David Balding as he tries to find a nurturing and permanent home for Flora, the 18-year-old African elephant that he rescued as an infant, raised as his "daughter" and made the star of his circus. She was rescued from a terrible situation being captured and having witnessed her mother being killed. David's love for Flora is put to the ultimate test when he realizes he made a terrible mistake keeping her as a solo elephant, and decides to retire her from the circus after 17 years of performing. Knowing Flora will outlive him, and with his health and finances becoming an issue, David sets off on a quest to find a home for Flora can live freely with other elephants. This complicated task begins with Flora's final circus performance in St. Louis and takes us on an emotional trek across America, then to Africa and back. We follow David's journey as he discovers just how difficult it is to find a proper home for an elephant in a world that reveres these animals for their majesty yet slaughters them for their ivory, adores them as cuddly Dumbos yet brands them "rampaging creatures". ONE LUCKY ELEPHANT raises critical issues about the well-being and future of the hundreds of thousands of endangered and exotic animals kept in captivity, cruel training for performing, the over development and destruction of their natural habitats, our intense and often damaging relationship with wild animals, and how all these issues have impacted the life of one very lucky elephant.

history has been made in massachusetts this week; pets are now protected under law against animal abuse in domestic violence cases. Panzer, and 8 year old lab mix, is now the first dog covered by the new law. granted this doesn't prevent the abuse, but this law makes it legal to charge someone with animal abuse in these cases. its about time!

i've been meaning to put this on my site for a while. the way most farmers are still treating animals worldwide is a disgrace. in the video link below, gordon ramsay, a world famous omnivore chef has made a point to talk about how piglets are castrated in europe. these idiot farmers say they dont feel it, dont feed me bullsh!t honey...i'd like to see what the farmers do and say if they had their balls cut off!

i admit i hate facebook, though technically i am on it. i am only on facebook for one reason: to extend my fight against animal cruelty. one of my "facebook friends" sent me a post from his wall entitled "all gods children". it only opened a door up (again) to the horrific acts of human kind. i was in a great mood today before i started reading the stories and looking at the photos. i STRONGLY urge you to see what the f**k is going on in this world and try to do something to help! please go to these links
